The Department of Defence requires Services to finalise a strategy for Defence's adoption of cloud services at the level of Protected including:

• Protected Cloud Discovery Report
• Draft Protected Cloud Strategy, including an Implementation Action Plan
• Final Protected Cloud Strategy, including an Implementation Action Plan.

The Services are required as:

• The Defence Strategic Review highlighted a need to decommission legacy systems and platforms.
• Defence has been slow to adopt and use cloud services and going forward is committed to providing best in class global platforms supported by best-in-class sovereign capability.
• Defence has created a new Defence Digital Group (replacing the CIO Group) to generate digital capabilities and effects.
